Write it in the library

Write a prompt in the PromptWhisker app, or start from the 36 ready prompts a new library comes with, or from one of seven offline packs. Mark the parts that change as {{variables}} and give them defaults. Keep it in a collection.

Fill each variable, or let it fall back to the collection default, then the global one. Choose the target tool and the prompt is formatted for it. Text edits are kept in version history; the template itself stays as it is.

Switch to the PromptWhisker keyboard in a compatible app and tap a pad. The prompt's text is inserted into the current field with the values you set in the app; a variable that still has no value stays as {{…}} for you to fill in, and a small {} tab marks those pads. Hold a pad to peek at its name. There is an Undo button.

Privacy

Nothing phones home.

Four plain facts about what PromptWhisker does with your prompts. It keeps them on your iPhone.

No network code.: No server, no account, no analytics, no third-party SDKs. Our App Store privacy answer will be “Data Not Collected”.
Browse and insert without Full Access.: Reading your prompts and inserting them from the keyboard needs no Full Access.
Add means the text you selected. Only that.: Full Access only enables the keyboard’s Add button, which hands the text you selected to the app — never surrounding text, never keystrokes.
Works where custom keyboards are allowed.: Compatible apps are those that accept custom keyboards. Some text fields block custom keyboards; in those, PromptWhisker cannot appear, and it does not work around that.

A control room behind every pad.

Two ready decks. Add your own.

A new library starts with two decks. Everyday mixes story pictures, cyberpunk key art, neon glyph caps and label caps; Studio is all neon glyph caps in a warm-to-cool sweep. On the Deck tab, switch decks with their chips, hold and drag a pad to move it, and tap + to add a deck for each kind of work — each holds up to 360 pads and gets its own chip on the keyboard. The keyboard comes in three styles: Prompt Deck, text list, and list with pictures.

Key editor for the Prompt improver pad: a large crimson neon cap with a glowing sparkle glyph; the Key face choices Neon, Picture, Symbol and Text with Neon selected; a Pad colour grid of twelve swatches and a Custom colour control; the Cap choices Plain, Glyph and Label with Glyph selected.

Design every pad.

Hold a pad on the Deck tab and let go to redesign it: a neon cap in one of twelve colours or your own, carrying one of 67 Holo Grid glyphs or a short label; bundled story, cyberpunk or pixel key art; your own picture; a symbol; or styled text. A pad you never designed shows its prompt’s picture, or a neon cap with a short title. Turn on Pad glow in Settings › Appearance and the pad under your thumb lights up on the keyboard, and an idle deck runs its own light show; both follow Reduce Motion.

The right format for each AI tool.

Each prompt knows its target: Midjourney --ar and --no, Stable Diffusion, video tools, or plain chat. The keyboard inserts it formatted for that tool.

Collections screen: picture tiles for Work (Emails, meetings, docs — the day job; 9 prompts), GenAI (Prompt-craft for image & LLM tools; 9 prompts), DevOps (Code review, incidents, shell; 8 prompts), Social (Posts, replies, announcements; 5 prompts) and Fun (Stories, games, curiosity; 5 prompts), and a New Collection tile.

Local library. Your backup.

Prompts live in collections on your iPhone, and a collection carries its own variable defaults for the prompts in it. Export everything you wrote as one JSON file you own — prompts, versions, collections, variables, decks and settings. Attached pictures are not in that file.

Build visual prompts, block by block.

The guided Composer walks through styles, settings, weather, lighting, materials and more — 148 built-in blocks, 124 of them illustrated; camera, mood and aspect use symbols. Add a subject and blocks of your own. The result is a complete, ordered prompt saved to your library. PromptWhisker does not generate images.

Everything lives on your phone, and everything you wrote can leave with you.

Full version history: Every change to a prompt’s text is kept as a version. Open any earlier version, copy it, or make it a template of its own.
Variables that cascade: Defaults fall through from the prompt to its collection to global registers.
Per-tool formatting: Midjourney (--ar, --no), Stable Diffusion, video tools and plain chat each get the syntax they expect.

Three keyboard styles: Prompt Deck — pads with pictures, glyphs or short labels and a chip for each deck (hold a pad to peek at its name) — a text list, or a list with pictures. In a new library, the keyboard starts in the Prompt Deck style. There is an Undo button.
One JSON file you own: Export prompts, versions, collections, variables, decks and settings — text only, no attached pictures.
On-device intelligence, optional: With Apple Intelligence on iOS 26 and eligible devices: Prompt Doctor rewrites, variable value suggestions, Variablize, and title and collection suggestions. Everything else works without it.
Requirements: iPhone, iOS 17 or later. The keyboard is an optional extension you enable in Settings.
